Are you sure that the libcrypto.{a,so} in /usr/local/lib is the one you
just installed with openssl?  If so, you can work around the problem
by running configure with LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -ldl", but it's weird any
way.

Maybe you are using an old version of binutils?
