Error VPN version

Does it appear to be a problem with different versions of TINC?, it
could be because the VPN server runs Debian Stable (woody) and the
client runs Debian testing (Sarge).

If this is my problem should I update the VPN server to testing and run
apt-get upgrade tinc?
